Coolant Recovery needs and advantages

Water soluble coolants are used in most of machine tools. Coolant management departments find it tough to manage coolants. There are certain techniques needed to be adopted by all the concerned departments in handling the coolant problem. This blog invites all the persons concerned with coolant to contribute and make this a ideal platform to dissipate information on coolants, management techniques and disposal solutions. The contributions can be from as basic from choosing a coolant to offering technologies for coolant remediation and disposal.

Do you know that coolants have bacterial content of around 10^8/ ml? This comprises of both Aerobic and Anaerobic bacteria. The source of this bacteria is from the water that we use for mixing coolant emulsion. If the source water contains more bacteria then the coolant will contain more bacteria. You can add Disinfectants like Biocides/ Bacteriocides to control bacteria. Also minimum tramp oil means minimum bacteria

Coolants are stable emulsions and cause a lot of problems to ETP because of the oil content which will hinder in efficiency of activated sludge process. It is advisable to break the emulsion before it mixes with the ETP influent
